Why I still write Ruby
Every few years someone tells me Ruby is finished. Every few years I keep using it anyway, mostly for small tools like the one that builds this site.
The short version
- It reads like prose, which matters when you come back to code months later.
- The standard library covers most of what a small script needs.
ERBandYAMLare built in, so this whole blog needs one gem.
posts.select { |post| post.sites.include?(site.key) }
Boring tools are a feature, not a bug.
That one line above is the whole trick behind serving three blogs from one folder of posts.
